Ron Clark Book Study

What I really like about this book is that it reinforces the concept that students need to be respectful. I think we ignore too much inappropriate behavior. For example, when Ron Clark took the candy/books away from students that didn't say "Thank You" in 3 seconds. I agree with him but I find myself thinking it would be really hard for me to do that.

  1. I enjoy Ron Clark's high energy level, the uniquely engaging approach to teaching and the non-traditional style that he succefuly uses. He develops a very relational approach to working with his students, he requires much of them and he also requires a great deal of himself as well. He employs color, sound, physical activeness, the world classroom and very high social and learning expectations. We get what we expect as teachers or administrators and I appreciate his ability to manifest so many teaching-learning attributes into the classroom!

  2. I agree with Linda that consistency is so important in working with children. It is difficult to "stick to your guns", but it is essential to letting kids know you mean what you say.
